I was delighted when the ads started playing after last week’s debacle.
What’s not to love about modern adaptations of literary classics? It’s a bit unsettling to think that the original movie is now older than some of the people who are allowed to drive cars. While this movie was superior to Death Comes to Pemberley, it didn’t quite deliver the best ending one could hope for. There were some funny moments, and the death of Mr. Darcy can be forgiven in the context of the story. However, overall, it had a slightly sadder tone than I had anticipated. It was refreshing to see people aging, and I hope I have a strong support network of friends when I, too, become very old.
